The optimum serum - supplemented concentration in the medium for cell culture is 10%. The viscidity clearly effect to the growth of the cells get from the medium for monkey kidney cell growth when add the calf serum- product of Polimyelitis vaccine research and production center is 82.16% in comparing with the standard sample.

Study on the antibacterial potential in vitro of flavonoids in leaves of some species of clerodendron, verbenaceae in Vietnam

The antibacterial effects of flavonoid substances isolated from plants belonging to C.clerodendron species were studied. They are included Clerodendron fragrant, C.informatum, C.cytophyllum. The results showed that flavonoids from these plants presented antibacterial activities on both strain of Gram (+) and Gram(-) but stronger effect obtained with Gram(+). The antifungal activity was week or not resulted for all these three plants. The mixed flavonoid solutions may give better antibacterial effects depending on the combination of extracted flavonoid solutions.

About the compound with biological effect extracted recently from leaves of Clerodendron fragrans

The new flavonoid was isolated from the leaves of clerodendron fragrans Vent. Its structure was confirmed by various spectrum of IR, UV, MS, 1H, C13-NMR, DEPT, COSY as 5, 7, 8-trihydroxy-4, -methoxy flavone (I). That flavonoid composition presented good antioxiadant activity. Its effect on cathepsin activity in human blood was studied and showed that flavonoid increased cathepsin activity at optimum concentration.
